Access 2003: [Analyze with Microsoft Excel] feature, doesn't work like the [File][Save As] Xls feat

Why doesn't the Access 2003 "[Tools][Office Links][Analyze with Microsoft
Excel]" feature, output the same data, as the "

[Save As] Xls "
feature?

Data example:
Ttable "tblTest" contains a memo field "memComments". That memComments
field is a Memo field, containing 500 characters.

Action and results in Access 2003:
- [Tools][Office Links][Analyze with Microsoft Excel] menu selection:
When I open the table, and select the [Tools][Office Links][Analyze with
Microsoft Excel] function, the Excel file contains the comments field, but
the memComments field is TRUNCATED to 255 characters!

- [File][Save As] "XLS file" menu selection:
When I use the [File][Save As] (to XLS file) function, ALL of the 500
memCommetns characters are exported to the Excel file.
