Usually I have been looking forward to dozens of contributions
to this site, but of late there are more often than not, only a
couple or three?

Jon.

MS are withdrawing from newsgroups and Publisher one has now gone from their
news server.

They want you to use the moderated "Answers" forums:-

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...-US/categories

The Publisher one is located under the Additional Microsoft Office Forums.

Have a look - eventually all the MS Public newsgroups will disappear, so we
have to get used to it.

I am set up to see Publisher messages in the "Answers" forum, but is there a
way to view messages in Windows Live newsgroups? I have set up the NNTP
bridge, but Publisher apparently is not one of the forums available.

That's something I can't answer, but I think you can thank the group of
trolls who regularly spammed the MS groups for the decision. There are a
multitude of web based forums that also harvested the groups, maybe that is
also part of the reason.

The Answers forums are official and are moderated. As well as the well
known, and appreciated MVP's, there are MS technical people offering
assistance.

I understand MS will eventually close all the groups and shut down the
servers they have contributed over the years. Many ISP's have discontinued
offering newsgroups already, and that trend will continue. These days people
expect graphical sites, not vanilla text ones. Newsgroups will go the way of
bulletin boards. Personally, I prefer the newsgroups, but the trolls did
ruin the enjoyment and hasten the demise.

You mean I'll have to Tweet my problem. Or maybe sing it on a YouTube
video! Sheesh.
