Asset assessment - Can Info path import Floor plans

Hi

I am considering using Info path to a new Asset application for my company.
We have many locations and floors. We have all our floors in autocad format
and want to be able to give our auditors a Tablet PC. Import the Floor plan
and then let then go around on the floor in order to find out what hardware
is around.

We then want them to map all these devices to the floor plan by somehow be
able to map a - say a Desktop - to a given place on the floor plan. Based
upon that we will then a a backend database populated with the data that they
are finding.

Can Info path do this or even better would someone have developed this using
standard Microsoft technologies?

Hi K-mex,

Not sure how InfoPath would help you there. Do yo need xml output?
I have done something like that years ago using VB. Maps were used as
picground pics and "Hot Spots" on the picture where used to link areas to
data content in a DB. It will be some work, but it is doable. I would look
into building using Visual Studio .Ne to build your own app for such a
project. You may need features that InfoPath won't offer.
