Hello everyone,

I trying to fing a way to manage two project files and being able to
integrate both project for defining the critical path and the impact of
changing task on both projects.

The client has a ms-project file and the supplier is also using
ms-project. The task has to be integrated but the supplier doesn't want
to give us access to their ms-project file.

The supplier doesn't want us to change are information in there
ms-project, so I think we need two ms-project files, but do we create a
master to integrate both project files ?

Thanks in advance for the respond !

Hi Marty,

You can combine both files into a master by using the Insert > Project
command. By default, changes made in either file will change the original.
You can combine the files as without impacting the originals by deselecting
the Link to Project check box in the Insert Projects dialog box. However, if
the suppliers won't give you a copy of their project file, I don't see how
you can combine the files.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Here is the problem,

I will have tasks on my part and tasks on the supplier part.

Exemple :

Task 1 - Client - Project file A
Task 2 - Client - Project file A
Task 3 - Supplier - Project file B
Task 4 - Supplier - Project file B
Task 5 - Client - Project file A
Task 6 - Supplier - Project file B

I would like to create a master Project file C with the two project
file together.

Can I do that with the master option or is it only with Microsoft
Project server ?

Thanks

m_champoux,
No, not at all. The consolidation feature for Project has been there
basically since day 1. First, create a new blank project file. If there
are any tasks you want to actually be a part of the master, go ahead and
enter those. Then go to Insert/Project. In the Insert Project window,
select both your supplier project file and your client project file. Hit
"Insert" and you are all set.

Hope this helps.
