How do you export MS Project 2007 to Excel and retain the formating?

My tasks all show as level 1 not sub tasks, etc.

Hello Tim,

Jack Dahlgren created a macro and posted the code to his page. See:

http://masamiki.com/project/macros.htm

and look for the "Export hierarchy to Excel macro."

I've not tested in Project 2007, but I believe it should work just
fine.

The other option is to export the Outline Level field to Excel and
then apply the indentation in Excel.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Tim,

If you export the Outline level field to Excel along with the rest
of the data, you can then use autofiltering to show only tasks with
the selected tasks. Then use the Indent button in the Alignment
Group on the home tab to Indent for each outline level. For
example, outline Level 2 I'd indent once -- outline level 3, I'd
indent twice.
