Government Fiscal Calendar

Is there a way to change the calendar for a particular project in MS Project
2003 to represent the government fiscal year. For example, our company nows
exports data to a cost software which has the calendars set for fiscal
government years. When the schedule is asked for example what the etc is for
a particular time persiod, he/she then goes to the grid in Project and has to
add the hours by week. He/She does this because the calendars for fiscal are
different and months end differently. Is it possible to code the calendars
in MS Project the same way we do with our cost software?

Kyle,
Just setting the fiscal year is not a problem (Tools/Options/Calendar
tab - Fiscal year starts in), but I assume you need to emulate a 4-4-5
accounting month calendar. Unfortunately no version of Project provides
for custom accounting month calendars. However it is possible to get
there from here. I understand it may be possible (with a lot of work) to
configure something called the cube with Project Server but I have no
firsthand knowledge of that. What I have done more than once however is
to write a custom accounting month macro. It basically does all the
conversion using the Project data and creates one or more spreadsheets
(depending on what data is needed on an accounting month basis) in
Excel. From there the accounting month data can be transferred to other
applications such as your cost software.

If you are interested and would like more information, contact me direct
via e-mail.
