Hyperlink base?

How to set a hyperlink base by field in Access 2003? Not the entire database.
I am hyperlinking BY field to different paths in a simple db, nothing
complex, but each record has a different hyperlink and some times more than
one in different locations. Think image catalogue with several image files
in different locations for the same record.
Am I missing something or has Microsoft missed the boat here??
