Inserting figures into Word

I would like to insert figures into my document without "disturbing" the
text. For example, if I had a two page document of just text, would it be
possible to insert a new page with the figure in between the two pages and it
still paginate correctly?

Thanks

No, you can't wrap text around an entire page. The graphic must either be
inline (in which case it interrupts text flow) or anchored to a text
paragraph. Unless the text paragraph is part of the wrapping text, then that
paragraph will also interrupt the text flow.

Let me see if I read this correctly: You would like one page of text, then
a page with your figure, and then another page of text. Am I correct?

Hello Brandon,

Yes, that would be correct.

You could always format the paragraph after the image to be 'page break
before', insert your image on the previous page (at the bottom of the
existing text) and then, while clicked on the image, format that with the
paragraph formatting to be 'page break before' as well. That way Word will
have to put page breaks before and after the image.

In that case, I am afraid I can offer no further assistance. When a picture
is not inline (i.e. it is wrapped in any way) and takes up the entire page,
Word will always leave at least one line of text on every page, even if the
picture covers up some of that text so that it is difficult to read.

By the way, I am assuming you have a version of Microsoft Office older than
97, because Word 97 does not have an option that lets you place a picture
inline with the text.

In any event, I am sorry I cannot offer any further assistance in this
matter.

Brandon.

Word 97 most certainly does allow you to place a picture inline; it just
isn't the default. Go to Format | Picture and, on the Position tab, clear
the "Float over text" check box. You can also clear this check box when
inserting the picture.

It is possible to set up a Figure paragraph style to be formatted with page
break before, and a Figure Caption style to have page break after...then
always use these two together.

There is no "page break after" property, and it wouldn't help, as this
description implies an inline figure and caption, around which text by
definition cannot be wrapped.
