The page borders of section 1 are set outside the printable area

Word 2002 (SP3)
I am having difficulty putting a border around the pages of my document. The
border appears on screen OK but when I go to print I keep getting the
following message:
The page borders of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the
page. Do you want to continue?
Altering the page margins has no effect - what can I do ??
