Page fault error when opening a file

When I try to open a Publisher file with my Publisher installation with Office Small Business 2000 I get a message saying
"MSPUB has an invalid page fault ...Kernel32.dll".

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Publisher and in fact the entire Office Small Business 2000 software but the problem persists.

I can create a new file with Publisher and Publisher will open the new file, however, when I attempt to open a previously created file the error occurs.

CRM (Can't Remember Much) what version of Windows are you using?

Does this only happen with one file or all Publisher files?

Is this on a network or local system only?

What are the numbers you get with the error message???

Publisher 2000 installed with Office Small Business 2000.

No error message number just the content indicating "mspub ... page fault...kernel32.dll"

The PC is on a peer-to-peer network but the Publisher ( and Office Small Business ) installations are
on the local PC with no network involvement.
