pdf blurry in Publisher

I am having problems with image clarity when exporting an Adobe pdf to
Publisher. I have tried using the clipboard to cut & paste as well as saving
the pdf as a jpg, tiff, eps, png, etc. Any other suggestions?

I am currently looking for a way to insert a .pdf file into a publisher 2003
doc. My efforts failed.

Questions: 1. I understand there is an add-on called pdf2image. How are you
able to insert a pdf? Are you using an add-on?

2. Am I better off to just open up the pdf in Photoshop and save it as a
jpg? Will I get better quality that way, or to use the add-on?

Hello Mary!!!
I followed your excellent directions and am now able to process pdfs into
usable media file for Publisher. thank you.

I have been a Pub user for 15 years or so, and am appreciative that it keeps
getting better, but figured by now it would be flexible enough to process
pdfs directly. I remember when I couldn't even save pubs as either jpgs or
tifs. So maybe it's in Publishers future to be able to process pdfs, too!

The ghost script/gsviewer solution renders a superior image as opposed to me
opening the pdf in full adobe acrobat and converting it there to a jpg. The
Adobe process lost a lot of crispness and clarity.

Thank Ed Bennett for his web site. It has been a great resource. I'm glad it
worked for you. Some folks would be bewildered by the instructions.
Thanks for posting your experience, hopefully other folks will see your post and
try Ed's suggestions too.

I was very impressed with Bennett's site. I'm not sure how to describe this,
but the two download buttons I clicked on to download felt solid. His
software is equally solid and glitch-free. Again, I encourage everyone out
there who uses photoshop to convert, give Bennett's two-part software a try.
The converted file was equally clear and bright as the original. I could not
say that for Photoshop's conversion. This is hard to say because I love
photoshop's power.
