If I have a photo embedded in my powerpoint -- can I replace the photo
with a different one (so I don't have to go through regrouping and
reanimating a new photo)?

Also, is it possible to convert an embedded image to a linked image or
vice versa?

I'm sure others will have info on converting embeddeds to links, but I'd
recommend just using Shyam's Animation Carbon. http://www.mvps.org/skp/

Thanks for that Echo -- I'm actually aware of Shyam's utilities. They
seem very thought out. However, I have trouble dropping $50 for a
function that should have been obviously incorporated into Powerpoint
itself. PPT seems like it makes initial creation easy -- but it sure
doesn't making revising very convenient.

Tom, start with a rectangle AutoShape and impart it a picture fill - then do
all the animating/grouping to the AutoShape. Thereafter, if you need to
change a picture, just change the fill of the AutoShape.
