synchronization implications

Hi everyone,

This is new to me so if I am asking a really dumb question please forgive me
in advance.

I have an Outlook account on an Exchange server and I want to reduce the
size of my file on the server. I have offline folders enabled and I have even
synchronized from the Exchange server to the offline folders. I am hesitant
to delete the messages from the Exchange server. I am not sure what will
happen the next time I synchronize. Is the synchronization bi-directional?
Will the messages in the offline folder be deleted or will new messages from
the Exchange server just be copied to the offline folder?

Thanks for any help with this questions

What will happen is that the items you delete from Exchange while connected
will be removed from your offline folders the next time you sycn.

It's bi-directional, yes. While on line, anything you do on the Exchnage
side will be reflected in your offline folders when you sync and anything
you do in your folders while offline will be reflected on Exchange when you
sync.

If you need to reduce the size of your Exchange mailbox, create a PST and
move items to it from Exchange. The PST and Exchange are not synchronized
in any way.
