after installing publisher 2002 can't uninstall home publisher and picture it

Elayne

Hello everyone,
I installed publisher 2002 and picture it 2002. I
thought these would override the Home Publisher and
Picture it 2001. But it didn't. Now, I have all these
programs and when i try to remove the older versions I
get these error messages:

setup is unable to find the works service pkg... fatal
error during installation

I'm afraid to load the works and any other necessary
programs without some technical advice. I don't want to
make my situation worse.

How do I remove these old files now?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

Publisher 2002 is not an upgrade to Home Publisher
PictureIt 2002 is an upgrade to both the older products you mentioned

MS PublishER has nothing to do with MS Home PublishING
(completely different program). You should be able to go to
Add-Remove Programs and uninstall Home Publishing if you
wish.

PI2002 will probably tell you that a previous version is installed
and ask if you want it removed. The following articles should
help with that.

Read the following KB articles:

I'm afraid you should've used your add/remove program to
removed the Home Publisher Software and Picture It 2001
Software. Now a lot of the files are compiled together
(changing them altogether), and getting them apart will,
most likely, not happen without major file curruptions.
You can keep loading your programs and expect that you
have two programs (Home Publisher/Publisher) trying to be
one big one "it should still work, but not without faulty
stuff going on" The box that the software is sold did it
say it would upgade Home Publisher or Picture It 2001? If
Picture It 2002 is not an upgrade you should've removed
Picture it 2001 before loading 2002 because you'll have
the same problem two like programs trying to merge into
one and becoming unstable. Anyway, do you have a resore
date on your computer? The best thing for you to do is
restore your computer to a time before you loaded the
software and try to start over. Me, I'm real hard on my
harddrive. If my software isn't right I load it again
from scratch.
