Attendance spreadsheet for school classroom

I am trying to make a spreadsheet to do attendace in my classroom.

I have created a seating chart with a barcode with the students name
for the person sitting in each chair.

I have also created an attendace code for the reason they are absent.
Such as: Code "T" Tardy, "SA" School activity or "A" absent. This
allows me to scan the name of the person out and the reason. I can
easily print this out and give to the office.

Now, I would like to transfer this daily information over to my master
sheet to keep up with the absences by individual by day. I would have
about a sheet for each quarter (60) days and I have the students ID
number and their name going down.

Can anyone help me on how to transfer the daily attendace to my master
sheet?

Much depends on the format of your data but it sound like an ideal candidate
for a pivot table. Name the range and then each day you can add data and
simply refresh the pivot table. This can be set to count 'events' by day,
week, month, quarter, year, etc. You would only need one pivot as you could
also filter out any data not required.
