Hi Newell!

That means you're trying to send your email through your ISP's outgoing
email server buy you're not on your ISP's network.

For example, Comcast is my ISP. I can freely send mail while I'm at home
because I'm directly connected to Comcast's network, but if I go to a
nearby coffee shop that uses Time Warner then I'm on their network.
Comcast's outgoing email server will not receive my mail because I'm not
directly connected to its network.

"Relaying" is the act of taking your email message and sending it
through a relay server to the recipient's email server. Relay servers
are often blocked to outside users to prevent spammers from using them.

A simple workaround for your problem is to turn your own Mac OS X system
into a simple outgoing mail server itself (the software is already built
in). I suggest using something like Postfix Enabler from
<http://www.cutedgesystems.com/software/PostfixEnabler/>. It's less than
US$10 and has been in existence for a few years.

Hope this helps! bill

Hello Newell,

Try contacting Comcast and see if you can use Port 587 and authentication on
the SMTP advance server settings when you are not on their network
