Error! Objects cannot be created from editing field codes.

Small bitmaps pasted into a table in a Word document display as a field error
message, not as a graphic. Toggling field codes displays the usual {EMBED
PBrush}.

Suspect corrupt template. Any other ideas?

Version of Word involved? Where are you copying the bitmaps from?

Are you pasting directly, or going over Edit/Paste Special?

Does starting Word in SafeMode make any difference? Starting Windows in Safe
Mode?

Version is 2002, currently SP3, but the problem occurred before SP3 was
installed.

Bitmap is in a table copied from another Word document (in which it displays
correctly) and pasted directly. The error has only occurred when the
document is opened for editing a few months after it was created.

How do I start Word in Safe Mode?

Since this is version 2002, hold CTRL when starting Word.

It sounds to me, however, as though this document may be damaged. Are you able
to save it as a web page (HTML file format)?
