Error! Unknown switch argument

Using Word 97 SR-2

I received a document which is trying to include a .gif
picture located on a web site. When I open the word
document, the .gif object appears correctly. When I go to
print the file, it tries to update the object and the
following error is received "Error! Unknown switch
argument."

The field is coded as follows:

{INCLUDEPICTURE "http://www.website.com/images/logo.gif"
\* MERGEFORMATINET }

note: the internet address has been changed so it is not
valid above.

Can anyone assist in helping me resolved this problem??

Hi Jon,

OK, this document was probably created in Word 2002, maybe
2003. The problem is the MergeformatINET at the end. Word 97
didn't "know" this switch, which is why it's balking.

If you delete the INET part, then press F9 I think everything
should be alright. But do please keep a copy of the original
just in case, because mergeformatINET can have some very,
very bad consequences in a *.doc (as versus a *.htm file).
