File missing Office 2003 setup

M

Metaxas

I tried to install Office 2003 and came up with the following error message
and stop the installation process.

"A required installation file CS561401.cab could not be found"

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Its a reinstall. thanks

I had a similar situation.
The problem was that (in my case) Dell, installed Office from a different
disk, not the one
supplied with my computer, therefore it was looking for a file that didn't
exist on my install CD.
I did some research and found that I needed to delete any (previous)
registry/install entry on my machine.
I used Windows Installer Cleanup
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 (this has a
link to download) to do this and then did a fresh install with supplied
disk.
