How do I make a text box transparent?

F

Frank Martin

We are using Word2000 with WindowsXP

We make labels, and we need text superimposed on a faint (watermarked)
picture.

In the text-box formatting section it is possible to make the text box
semi-transparent, but there seems no way to make it wholly transparent.

Can someone help?

You can't do this in Word - try Publisher.

There's an outside possibility that you could make a tiled version of your
watermark that you could use as a document background to make it appear that
the cells themselves are watermarked, then put the text directly in the
cell; but it would be a pain to arrange.

Hmmm. I was jumping ahead of myself with my reply. I had in mind label
merges where text boxes would not work correctly.
