How to automatically open Word with our company letterhead as header?

Hi,

I have a basic question. We have a company letterhead which we have defined
as a header. How do we set up word so that every time we open up a new
document in word, it automatically shows our letterhead as header for that
document?

Thanks

Set up the page the way you want it (header in the right place, top
margin where you like, it, justification, etc.) and save it as a
template file, not a regular document file. Copy that file somewhere
where you can get to it easily (desktop, maybe a dedicated folder),
and whenever you need to use it, just double click that icon and Word
will open up with that letterhead ready to go. When you save it,
it'll default to a document, so all is good!

Well, if thats the case, I can save it as a regular document with blank
pages. I was trying to figure out if you launch Word without launching a
specific document, that the letterhead would show up automatically
regardless of which document was opened. Is there a way to save the header
to the NORMAL.DOT files perhaps?

Thanks

I'm not sure about the implementation details but I believe you need
to create a template (.dot file), add the header to it, and then open
new documents based on this template.

I don't recommend putting it in normal.dot because if you run into
system problems with Word one of the solutions is to delete normal.dot
and let Word rebuild a default one for you.
