internal data integrity (type 4) in MS Word 2003

I have constructed a document in word 2003 (latest update) with several
tables in it.. The document crashes Word, and on opening the file after
recovery and saving, I am informed that I must use open and repair to open
the file.

Colleagues of mine appear to be having similar problems with these files.
Can you advise what the problem is and what (if any) solution exists?

Did you use open & repair to fix the file? Open and repair can be found on
the extra open options accessed from the little down arrow by the open
button in the file open dialog.

Yes, I used repair, which allows me to open and save the document. However,
when I close it and go to open it again some time later, I experience a
problem again. I have to use repair to open the document all the time.
