Looking for a good graphics tablet for OneNote on my laptop

Peter Maddern

I live in the UK and i currently use a Wacom Volito FT-0405-U0B 4 x 5"
graphics tablet bought here.

I personally don't find handwriting into OneNote to be that good with it.
The results don't feel as precise as compared to writing on pen and paper and
the handwriting doesn't look 100% precise - it's kind of hard to describe
exactly what I mean here.

Don't know if this is a graphics tablet "specification" issue or whether
this is true of all graphics tablets?

Is anyone using a graphics tablet that they feel gives nice, smooth, precise
handwriting results in OneNote pages? And if so, could you quote the model
details.

I use a Wacom Graphire3 4x5.
I think I understand what you mean by less than precise.
Why do you want it to be precise anyway ? Don't you just want to be
able to read it ?

Why less than precise ?
1) The digitizer on a Graphics Tablet is not as precise as a Tablet PC.
2) For me, my 4x5inch tablet has a magnification on the screen (I write
small on the tablet and it writes big on the screen.)

I find the graphire3 pretty reasonable. You might want to research the
digitizers in Wacom tablets and see if your model is an earlier model.

The "feel" of the ink is different in EverNote.
try it .... www.evernote.com .. there is a free version.
I dont like EverNote because you cannot.
1) write on top of inserted graphics (documents)
2) use writing and text in the same note.

it's pretty much true of all graphics tablets because they have a slow
capture rate.

"Pretty much true of all graphics tablets" - really? Wouldn't the larger
size, higher dpi GT's out there be better than my "entry model" GT?

Graphics pads normally operate at the same capture speed as a mouse, while
the Tablet PC digitizer is a minimum of three times that speed. The other
main difference is Tablet PCs capture each pen stroke individually, while an
external graphics device registers only complete letters/words. The
digitizer sampling rate is much more precise than an external device, :

Peter,

FYI,

The Wacom Graphire4 model is now out.
I suspect the digitizer is the same.

It features EverNote Plus software and JustWrite Office 4

JustWrite Office 4
With JustWrite Office 4 installed on your PC, you can use your Wacom
pen to easily mark-up documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and even
emails. Adding your date-stamped signature to an email or creating
handwritten notes in a document is as simple as working with paper.
Sticky notes, a simulated laser pointer, and other Office productivity
features are all included in this highly useful software application.

I wonder if this adds the ability to easily markup .doc files in Word
2000 ?
