mail merge into quadrants

As a teacher, I often make passes or tickets, 4 to a page, using Word 2000.
How do I use mail merge from tables or Excel so that I can put a different
name into each of the 4 passes and then continue on to the next page(s)
considering the number of students I am creating passes for.

Thanks!

Use a label type mail merge. Check out the labels that are available in
Word and you will be sure to find one that has four to a page in two rows of
two.

They'll be described as "postcards" or "note cards" depending on
orientation. In Word 2007, the "Microsoft" selections include a simple 4-up
layout.

Or simply use a four cell table as the basis of a label mail merge
or
Enter the data for one pass or ticket on the page and create a
catalog/directory mail merge which will reproduce whatever you put on the
page as many times as it will fit.
