Hi,
I'm new to MS Project and have a question on a resource allocated to
purchase hardware from a supplier.
I allocated a colleague to procure the hardware and gave them a 10 day
lead time as this is a fair estimate from the supplier to deliver. The
project is dependant on the hardware but it's not mission critical and
therefore we can easily change the time it actually takes which in
turn will change the dates allocated for building and configuring the
kit.
What is the best practice in MS Project for this as now it has
rendered this 'resource' committed to 10 days where in fact it is a
minor task and then down to the supplier to deliver. I thought about
setting the resource be set to a supplier but then if we order
something else from that supplier it again will see them as busy
during that time.
Probably a basic question but thanks in advance for any help / ideas.
Thanks,
Tim
