Network or Disk error

After loosing our network connection abruptly - only 1
user can open a Access database at any time. The DB is
shared and we did not have this problem prior to the
connection loss. The second user get a network or disc
error message. How do we correct this?

Thanks

First, with no one in the database, delete the LDB file on the server. If
you cannot, then you may have to reboot the server. Have your network admin
try it first as he should know how to disconnect it an delete it without
rebooting the server.

Next make a copy of the database as a backup.

Then do a repair and compact of the database. If your database is not split,
do it now and put the front-end on each desktop. There is a wizard to help
you (Tools ... Database Utilities ... Database Splitter)

If it still doesn't work properly, you'll need some additional measures:

Have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you
may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate
the rest.

Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving
corrupt databases. Try this URL:
