Office 2000 now pops up EULA window & closes doc after acceptance

I'm using Windows 7 and Office 2000. This seems to apply to all parts of Office 2000 (I've run into it with Word, Access and Excel). Each time I open a document, the EULA screen pops up. If I accept the EULA, the document opens and then closes a few seconds later. If I don't accept the EULA, is closes right away. I can open these documents and work on them (and save them) with LibreOffice. I installed updates yesterday and this seems to have started then.

I suppose I could just keep using LibreOffice but I have my doubts about it and would like to still be able to US MS Office which, you know, I paid for (I paid extra because I wanted to have Access).

Advice will be appreciated.
