Outlook 2003 Spell Check has Stopped Working

My Outlook 2003 spell checker has stopped working. I have it set to spell
check when I send. However, when I send, I get a pop-up window that reads
"Error occurred while checking spelling" with one option - an "OK" button.
This happens TWICE.

Recent events on my system:

- Applied most recent XP Pro Service Pack when it came out.

- Applied Office 2003 Service Pack when it came out.

I'm also having problems in word that date from about the same time. My
documents crash. It's clearly something to do with the links.
