Outlook Not closing properly and not remembering indexed emails?

Hi, I am using Outlook 2007, it has been a few months but within the
last two months or so I get the message that Outlook was not closed
properly and it needs to be repaired (which it does, which takes about
5-10 minutes bringing my system to a crawl). I make sure to turn it
off properly (File -> Exit) and have even checked processes to make
sure it is not running in the background (and its not) but still, when
i start up again it tells me again that it was not closed properly.

Also, when i try to search my emails using the windows search/indexer
it (the indexer) always tells me it has not finished indexing emails
so i wait and wait (about an hour, a few years of email) then it
finishes and i can use it but next time i have to restart i am back to
the same place, it is busy reindexing everything like it never indexed
anything to start with.

I am not sure what is going on here but any help or suggestions would
be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

You might want to do a more thorough scan of your pst-file with scanpst.exe.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/77

Have you already applied Service Pack 2 for Office 2007? It comes with an
update which makes it less likely that add-ins can crash or hijack the
outlook.exe process upon closing.
