Pasting Excel charts into PowerPoint yields format mess

Good afternoon!

We have created a number of attractive charts in Excel 2007. The charts look
and work perfectly, when we update the data in the tables, the charts update
properly, the labels look good, they're formatted the way we want them to be.

We paste the charts into PowerPoint07, and *most* of it looks fine. However,
if, while designing the chart in Excel, we chose to include a data table for
the various series of data, that data table "floats" in PowerPoint. In fact,
while in the slide sorter, each time you change your focus to another slide,
and then come back to the one with the chart, the data table has moved up or
down the slide until it eventually disappears, meanwhile obscuring other text.

Needless to say, the charts are useless. Anyone have a fix for this?
Thanks,
tony
