problem with notes folder - in non default location??

I recently got a new computer and moved my outlook from my old pc to the new
one. Now I am having trouble syncing my notes from outlook to my handheld.
My contacts and my calendar sync with no problem.

I believe that somehow my notes folder got moved into a non-standard
location/configuration. {My .pst is in the default
/localsettings/applicationdata/microsoft/outlook directory}

This is the only difference I can see between my contacts/calendar which
sync ok and my notes, which will not sync. When I am in contacts or calendar
and I click file-folder I have the option of 1) a new folder or 2) copy but
the options to MOVE, DELETE and RENAME are greyed out. If I am in notes and
click file-folder, the MOVE, DELETE and RENAME are NOT greyed out.
So can someone help me here? I think I need to get the notes folder back to
the default location or something like that (so that my notes appear with the
same options greyed out as do my other folders). This may be a backward way
of looking at it - but I know something is wrong and it's the only difference
I can see. I would appreciate any help.

Notes are kept in the PST along with all the other Outlook data, like
contacts, appointments, tasks, etc.

What sync software are you using? What version of Outlook?

I am running outlook 2002 sp3. I am using Intellisync Lite to sync my Clie.
It worked fine on my old pc. Now I get an error from Intellisync when I try
to
run the Intellisync configure software to "connect" my Outlook notes to my
clie memos.

I get an error from Intellisync "The file or database name associated with
MS Outlook is missing, invalid, or points to a file of zero length" when I
try to sync using the MS Outlook translator.

When I moved my outlook .pst file from my old machine to my new one, I was
having some problems so I must have changed or moved or configured it somehow
that is now causing me problems.

I have worked on this for quite a while myself, and I finally saw that my
notes folder in outlook is different from my contacts and calendar (see my
first post) and my contacts and calendar do work.

I'm wondering if the /resetfolders switch might do the trick, but I'm not
clear if I would run the risk of losing any data by using the switch.
I would appreciate any help.

Different in what way?

You won't lose any data with the /resetfolders switch.

I ran /reset and now my notes will sync, but nothing else will anymore. I
keep getting this error in my sync log file:

Internal Error #4198. Translation Canceled!

What I would like to do is to save my outlook data, reinstall outlook, and
then restore my outlook data. I do not want to simply save a copy of my .pst
file, because I think that my pst is part of my problem. Can I somehow
'dump' my outlook data (either en mass or by inbox, notes, calendar, contacts
individually), reload outlook and then read my data back into outlook so I
can get a clean start??

Make a new PST (File>New>Outlook Data File), make it your delivery location,
copy all your non-default folders to it, and copy the contents of all you
default folders. Save a copy of this PST with Outlook closed (for
safe-keeping, but test it before you rely on it - the original should be
intact, however). Remove and reinstall Outlook. Create a new mail pofile
pointing at the PST you want to use. Start Outlook.

ok - I am going to try this. The first thing I am unclear about is you say
after creating a new file I should make it my delivery location. How exactly
do I do this??

In Outlook, with the "Deliver new e-mail to the following location"
drop-down at the bottom of Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Stop and restart
Outlook after changing the value.
