professional version won't install over free trial version

I can't seem to install office professional. I have the trial version
installed, as it came with the comupter. During installation, it asks me for
the product code, but it looks like the standard version is running rather
than the professional version. I type in the product code, but it says it is
invalid. I have carefully types it in several times now.

Thank you, unistalling worked. Actually I ran "appwiz.cpl" from start, run.
So why can't the Office Professional installer do this for me, or alert me of
this problem, instead of keep giving me the same old message about an invalid
product code?
