Project Server is changing the Units allocation of resources

Project is changing the Resource allocation based on the hours being reported
by the resource and it is affecting the leveling. If I set a resource
allocation to 50% on a task it should never change but project is changing it.

Is anyone else having this trouble, any workarounds or tricks? I really
can't level effectively, the product is almost unusable at this point.

You are seeing the default behavior of Microsoft Project when you enter
actuals. When you assign a resource to a task and set the Units at 50%, the
software makes the assignment at 50% Units across the life of the task.
However, what you probably do not realize is that the Units value is
actually the Peak Units field, which represents the largest amount of
planned Work or Actual Work across the life of the task. So, if you assign
a resource at 50% Units on a task (4 hours of Work per day) and the resource
reports 6 hours of Actual Work on a day, the Peak Units value changes to 75%
to reflect this. Hope this helps.
