Project Title

Rob

I am using project 2007.

Whenever I change the name of the project to XYZ it defaults back to XYZ.mpp.

How can I stop this from happening? I want to use the &[Project Title]
function in the header of my reports but can't.

Please help.

If the name of the project file (.mpp file) precisely matches the project
Title in the Properties dialog, then the system automatically appends the
".mpp" information at the end. This is why I save the .mpp file using a
short name and enter a longer unique name in the Title field. Just a
thought. Hope this helps.

Hi Rob,

I believe whether the extension (mpp) shows or not is controlled
through the operating system. Try hiding file extension in your
operating system. In a quick test with Project 2007 installed to
Windows XP, hiding file extensions removed the .mpp from the Title
in Properties.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Rob,

I have found that, in Project 2007 on XP Pro, in the File / Properties
dialog box I can erase the entire text of the Title and replace it with
anything, including the original filename less the .mpp (copy and paste
works). The name of the project will then match. I assume that there is a
link in the default title that causes it to include the full file name.
