Read-Only. database opened read-only... no other users active

Database opens read-only from time to time, even though no one else is using
it at the moment. Cannot move, delete, or rename the database file (.mdb) or
backups when this message is showing. How do we prevent this situation, how
do we fix it, any suggestions for troubleshooting. We are using Access 2007;
the database is Access 2003.

Thanks, Jerry. I tried your solution, and found that when I copied the file
to my own laptop, the read-only went away. Next step, I guess, is to have
our IT folks check for network problems.

Actually it may be the user problem. Depending on how many users you have
and their rights. I found that one user opened the file without the correct
rights and others couldn't edit the file afterwards. Check the user rights
as first in when you have a problem is frequently the problem.
