Rule Lines/Cornell Notes

Hi,

I'm trying to set up ON 2007 with a Cornell note type template. In Go
Binder I did it just my making the margin on my rulelines a bit further
toward the middle of the page.

Can you adjust the margin of rule lines in ON2007?

Can you create your own rule lines?

I've looked at the Microsoft Cornell templates but they are no good, eg
lines dont extend with the page etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Rule Lines have been discussed at length just a few weeks ago. Search
back.

You cannot modify the built-in rule lines settings. The choices available
from Format | Rule Lines are the only ones available.

I see two options:
1) a google search shows a few templates that people have come up with.
This one seems like a good fit even though is it for ON2003.

2) Create your own template using table and possibly some of the drawing
tools (both of which are new in ON2007).

You can't use tables to create rule lines. Tables automatically resize
themselves depending on the content.

Most people just create a document that looks like what they want for
rule lines in some other program then print that to OneNote and write on
top of that. The trick is to create a document with rule lines that will
be very close to the line height of one of the existing rule line
configurations. It doesn't have to line up exactly vertically. But it
does need to be close to the same spacing.

I actaully spoke to Benoit Barabe the ON Dev Manager and asked for what
I needed, while they couldnt provide exactly what I needed in little
more than a day he created 3 different pages for me. Essentially they
are lined pages with the margin, or multiple margins, in different
places. They'd be useful for Cornell notes or anything where you need
things in columns.

Let me know if you want a copy of if you want to host.

Thanks,

Damo

Could you please let me have copies?
I would then make them availble on my FTP-site for downlaod.

That is very cool! I am not personally interested in them but be sure to
let everyone know how they worked out. Are they a pain to use? Are they
just documents that you "print" to OneNote as I described. Do you find it
convenient or inconvenient to use them? I'm sure there are lots of people
who will be interested in your results.

They're very useful and easy to install. Just a package that opens 3
notes in OneNote. Save the ones you like as stationary.
I'll forward them on to Rainald above who has kindly offered to host.

Hi Damian,
thanks for your mail and the templates.
I uploaded them to my FTP-site:

I read the note you included in the .zip file. It appears that this
Benoit Barabe person hacked the settings for the grid lines. I wish they
could have just included a dialog for us to do this from the beginning
just like Journal has. It would have saved a lot of people a lot of
grief.

For sure!
And it would be great would someone from the team "blog" the way to do
it.

Thanks for asking the right question.
