Unable to link Project Server 2007 to Project Portfolio Server 200

We are trying to set up the Attribute Mapping Template that defines which
fields in the template on the Project server map to which fields in the
Project Portfolio Server (as per the deployment handbook) but we are getting
the following error message in red "Authentication data undefined for
specified Project Server and current user"

The user id that we are using is Admin on both the servers and can get into
both servers.

Any help/direction appreciated.

Hi,
We did the two things that come out of the long chain (29+ responses) in
this forum and rebooted and voila it started working. The two things were:
providing access to the SQL server and one more thing... I forget .... let me
know if you cannot discern from the long chain that I refer to.

Thanks for the response Amol. Am I looking for a long chain from one post,
or did you complile the information from multiple posts?

Hi Amol,

I was trying to look for the long chain (29+ responses) that you mentioned
in your post but couldn't find it. Can you share it with us? I really would
want to integrate PPS 2007 with Project Server 2007.

Regards,
JoF

We have noticed that if you attempt to view attributes from the Attribute
Mapping Template Management you will receive this error until you do the
following:

1) Select Preferences
2) Select Project Servers
3) Select the Server Name and Edit
4) if you are using integrated Authentication you need to simply Select
Update without making any changes, Logon Account and logon Password should
remain Blank
5) If you are using Forms Authentication you will need to complete Logon
Account and logon Password then Select Update

These steps have resolved the error message "Authentication data undefined
for specified Project Server and current user", when attempting to edit or
add a Mapping Template.

My scenario:
-Project and Portfolio are on the same server.
-On the server I have two seperate websites naturally,
one PWA and one Portfolio.
-Within Portfolio I have setup the project server definition with:
Wind. Inte Authen.
Project Server Web Service URL: http://myservername]/pwa/_vti_bin
PWA Url:http://[myservername]/pwa (This URL goes directly to the pwa site.)
and the the Project Server Domain Authentication Settings are blank.

The domain user I used on portfolio is an admin on PWA.

My problem is that I keep getting a "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" error. I noticed it on the Attribute Mapping Template Management. What do I have wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John
