Usage Question: Resource Usage Report

Hi,

I am learning Project and have a question....ok, several. But I will start
with this one.

I have added all of the tasks, milestones, etc. and am looking into the
Resource Usage and my resources are over allocated. However, that is not my
problem, my probelm is that the hours for work that has passed is appearring
and is being counted as work that has to be completed. However, it has been
completed and I dont think that it should be appearring or be counted against
my hours that are remaining. How do i fix this?

Hi Marissa,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

It sounds as though you haven't told project that some work has been done.
In the Resource Usage view, right click in the yellow cells area and select
Actual Work. Now enter the actual work done and adjust the remaining work
figures to what you want. You might also wish to try from the Gantt Chart
view: Tools/Tracking/Update project and select to Reschedule uncompleted
work to start after, and enter the status date. Then try Tools/Resources
levelling, and level the project to remove the overallocations.
