Why do fomat changes one paragraph sometimes affect all paragraph.

Somtimes with Word 2003 documents when I select a paragrapgh to format, say
with italics or with a bullet point, the change affects all paragrapghs in
the document. Using Ctrl Z will then remove the changed formattign style
from all but the affected para - but very annoying.

Try going to Tools | Autocorrect Options and deselecting Define Styles based
