Word Cannot Save This File Because It Is Already Open?

One of our team members keeps getting an error message in Word 2007 (Vista
OS). He'll have multiple new Word files open (all completely different
files) but occasionally when the AutoSave tries to activate, it triggers the
error message, "Word Cannot Save This File Because It Is Already Open by
Another User". All of the files are local (saved to C:) and therefore not
being shared by anyone else. When he manually saves, the error does not
occur. I've seen the KB article 918593 and deleting the temporary files is
what is recommended. I can try this, but is this caused by Word crashing?
He says that he hasn't had any crashes lately.

I'm not sure what else to advise him!

Thanks in advance for your help.
