xp is not removed from add\remove progs during 2k3 install

hello,
I used the resource kit to install office 2k3 clicke on
remove previous versions of office, all the shortcuts are
removed but it still shows up in add\remove programs. do
i need to call up another application some sort of un-
install to automate this whole process? or am i missing
something?
