Turning off "Your IMAP server has closed the connection" notificat

Jimmy

Hello everybody!

If anybody can point me in the right direction in learning how to turn off
the

"Your IMAP server has closed the connection" notification. My email server
routinely does something that tricks my computer into thinking I'm logging
in somewhere else so it closes my connection at home. It's extremely
annoying, happens often and lags my computer. Any help? Thanks!!

Actually, I work in an university environment where the IMAP is managed by
another entity. The fact is that clients like Thunderbird and Eudora work,
and Outlook doesn't. In fact, I'm getting the same error message as the
original poster. A response like that really isn't helpful, because I think
Outlook's implementation of IMAP is just as much the problem as any server
configuration. So, the question is, can you or any other Microsoft "expert"
give me a lead on how to solve the problem?

I'm in the same boat. My Outlook is connected to my Mozilla mail which is
through a university. I keep getting the same message, "Your IMAP server has
closed the connection..." and it's really annoying. I tried Outlook because
of the calendar feature but Mozilla is looking more and more attractive -
every 10 minutes or so.
