video playback problem

When I insert a mpg video into pp2003 it will not start when I go to that
slide. If I backup to the previous slide and then go to slide with the mpg
video it will run with no problem. I am using XP pro and Windows Media
Player 10. The video runs fine after I do the page up and return to the page
with the video. I have tried different start modes for the video but all
give the same results. Any ideas, thanx for any help.

If on the slide (for the first time) and you click on the movie area, does
it play?

No, when I click on the movie area it will give me a quick flash of the
screen like it is going to start the player but goes right back to the slide
with the video on it. If I page up to the previous slide and then page down
to the slide with the video it will start with no problem. It will run to
the end of the video and then return to the pp page with the video linked to
it. The rest of the presentation will proceed just like it is supposed to.
Thanx.

Eric,

To be honest, I have not encountered this problem (although I have
encountered ALOT of movie playback issues). Because you are using PPT 2003,
can you check what service pack is installed. Go to HELP >> ABOUT MICROSOFT
OFFICE POWERPOINT and look near the top. Should be "SP2".

Hey Troy, thanks for looking into this for me. I do have service pak (SP) 2
installed. I will try a few more things and if I get any different results I
will let you know, thanx. Eric
