Word Crashes, Recovers, Crashes Again with no Recovery

This has happened several times now. I'm working on a Word document, when word "Unexpectedly Closes" and asks me to send an error report. Then, Word re-opens with the document recovered - yay! BUT, as soon as I go to save the recovered document, right as I hit "Save" Word unexpectedly closes again. This time when Word restarts however, there is no document recovery. What is going on?? It's really upsetting to have it close for no reason, especially when you lose work (and no matter how often you save, you always lose some work).

Any document that crashes more than once is "corrupt" and needs to be fixed.

The reason you got no AutoRecovery the second time is that Word crashed
before you had time to make any changes, so there is nothing to recover.

AutoRecovery is useless, anyway. Turn on Preferences>"Always make backup"
so that you at least have the file complete as it was at the time of the
previous save when this happens.

You need to Maggie that document. You may also need to delete your
Normal.dotm template and allow Word to create a new one. Word must be quit
when you delete the Normal template, or it will simply re-save the old one
from memory when it quits.

The Maggie:

1. Create a new blank document
2. Carefully select all of the text in the bad document EXCEPT the last
paragraph mark
3. Copy it.
4. Paste in the new document.
5. Save under a new file name and close all, then re-open.

This technique for de-corrupting is known as "Doing a 'Maggie'", after
Margaret Secara from the TECHWR-L mailing list, who first publicised the
technique.

Hope this helps
