Access 2003 runtime vs Access 2000 full version

I have access 2000 full version which i use a lot for database work. Someone
sent me a programme they wrote that needs 2003 runtime. Since I install it,
the runtme wants to take ownership of all my Access files by default. How do
I change it ? I have tried removing the file associations and setting up foir
the old Access executable using Regcleaner, but it still won't let go. I can
start up Access from the main menu OK and open the files, but I just want to
click on a file and have Access 2000 open I by default, not the runtime.

When you have multiple versions of Access double-clicking a file is going to
attempt to open it with the last version you used. So after using the 2003 app
just open Access 2000 and then any file you double-click afterwards will use
2000 again.

Mostly you need to abandon the practice of opening files by association. Open
the desired app first and then open the desired MDB from within that.

I can't remove the 2003 runtime. If I could, I would. Unfortunately I have to
now open Access 2000 first every time to open a file. Is there a way to
remove the runtime files ?

As mentioned, if you launch a2000, then from that point on, you should have
a2000 run (unless you again launch the a2003 application via that shortcut,
then everything will not try and run a2003. This is no different when you
got multiple versions (some of use have a97 a2000, a2003 or even more
installed!!).

You should be able to go to the control panel and do a add/remove of that
a2003 runtime (possibly named as the same as the application you installed).

Is it not listed in Add/Remove Programs?

The add/remove wouldn't remove it (win2K), don't know why. In the end,
deleted the Office11 folder and registry settings, then a mangle of registry
cleaners and found an MSI file which would allow a repair, copied a few cab
files it was looking for, and have ended up with it back to normal.

Thanks for all the help.
