Allocation of Generic Resources from Project Server between different projects

Hello,

I am trying to allocate generic resources from the server, in my cas
sub contractors. My problem is that i can't find a way to limit ho
many of these sub contractors work on each project at any one time
meaning they all work on one project and delay a later starting projec
until they're finished with the first project, wheras in reality only
fraction work on each project.

A very simplified example would be that we have 10 sub contracte
bricklayers, I want 6 to work on one project and 4 to work on another
Currently i am making a new generic resource for each project, i
"Bricklayer 1" and setting its max units to 600% & "Bricklayer 2" se
at 400%.

My problem with this is that we have a lot of projects running i
parallel and a large pool of sub contractors. Is there a way to Limi
the amount of resources available to our company from the su
contractor (in this case 10) and then to be able to limit how many ar
available in each individual project?

Any help would be much apreciate

Hi Frank,

Try posting on the server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project

used as this Project one with the last persons post being almost tw
months ago. Also the solution may be contained in project as much i
server so any help in this forum from anybody would be absolutel
great.

And i'm on Microsoft Project & Server versions 2007 if anyone wa
wondering

Hi Frank,

You must be looking in the wrong place as there are regularly dozens of
posts and answers every day in microsoft.public. project.server. The
problem is that you might well get answers from a Standard user like myself
who cannot take into account the differences/ideosyncracies in the Pro
version using Server. Finally, server questions clog up this newsgroup
which is for the Standard environment.

Yes Mike, i was talking about the server newsgroup in techarena which
scarcely recieves posts. I have however found microsofts server
newsgroup that you were talking about where hopefully somebody might be
able to help me.

Thanks Mike
