Appending then overwriting tapes using ntbackup

F

Freddy

I want to run a daily backup of selected files to a standalone DDS4 tape
drive on a single server running Windows Server 2003 to the same tape (i.e.
SourceCodeTape#1) from Saturday morning through Friday morning. Sometime
during that Friday I would eject "SourceCodeTape#1" then inject another tape,
"SourceCodeTape#2". Next, I want to run the same backup to that second tape
(i.e. SourceCodeTape#2) from the following Saturday morning through the
following Friday morning. Alternately, I would eject/inject the corresponding
tape. I want ntbackup to automatically overwrite the newly injected tape then
append each backup set to it from Saturday morning through Friday morning.
How can this be done? Please direct me to the appropriate Discussion Group if
it is not the one I selected. Thank you.

Well, this indeed isn't the right group: this group is for the Office Pro
database software Microsoft Access. I'd try posting in a Windows Server group
such as microsoft.public.windows.server.general.
