Attaching shortcuts to contacts?

Howdy All,

I need access to several pictures from each of several
thousand outlook contacts. I also don't want a 4gb
address book. Is it possible to attach shortcuts rather
than attaching the actual pictures? If so, or if there's
a better way, advice would be much appreciated.

What version of Outlook? If Outlook 2003, I don't believe it actually
stores the picture on the contact record but a reference to a file on your
local system.
