Automatic Acceptance of New External Data Not Working?

S

Sara Miller

I am currently using Project 2003 with a Master file and eleven inserted
subprojects with externally linked predecessors and successors. I have each
subproject configured on Tools > Options > View > Cross project linking to
automatically accept new external data.

My assumption was that this configuration would force each file to
automatically incorporate changes in file A to the dependent task in file B.
What I am finding is that the changes between the files do not take effect
until I open file B and access Tools > Links between projects, review the
posted changes and accept them. And I must do this for all eleven files
before the the "real" dates are displayed in the Master.

Is my configuration wrong or my assumption?

Thanks!
Sara

Hello Sara,

In quick testing with each subproject in a master set to accept external
data, all worked as anticipated. Changes to Plan A (predecessor) were
reflected in Plan B upon opening Plan B.

Is your calculation set to automatic?
What service pack do you have installed?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
