Automatically Running a Macro

I have made a macro which will change the bar format depending on a text
value from a drop down list. Works great, and I have added a button to my
toolbar to activate the macro. Is there a way that I can make the macro
change the bar as i add the text value rather than clicking the macro button
after I have made all my changes?
